If I could wish

If I could wish,
I would wish upon
petals not yet plucked
from yellowed guessing

If I could wish,
I would wish upon
furry seeds white-tucked
in breathy nesting

If I could wish,
I would wish upon
stony time's rolled back,
concave-gray jumbling

If I could wish,
I would wish upon
yawning star's stretch, black
tales awkward mumbling

And when I did,
each counted could-be
would be a wished lie
down from undoing

Francis,

I found something hypnotic about the composition, sounds and sensitivity of theme. Arranged with absolute pitch. I know I often comment on your poetic musicality. Out of curiosity, are you a musician?

This captured my imagination and got me hooked. You use basic human desires and makes fine poetry of it I think. I really liked this one. I agree with Jenny on musicality.

Thanks Jenny and Ande. I'm not a musician, but I think pop music lyrics have influenced me as much as poetry has. I've been thinking about approaching a percussionist friend of mine to collaborate on arranging a couple pieces.

So may fresh and beautiful images, Francis. My favorite:

"I would wish upon
furry seeds white-tucked
in breathy nesting."

Thanks Megan... I like that one too :).

Wonderful!
"down from undoing" is a line sublime that takes the preceding lines out into the light for a thorough examination :]
