slender

a slender volume of verse
carried in pocket or purse
each syllable chiseled in stone
to be read when you are alone

walking in the rain
or on a speeding subway train
for there is no pleasanter mood
than total blue solitude

"each syllable chiseled in stone"

My favorite line of this poem.

Slender and concise piece.
