Aubade

originally posted 14/09/09

(wo(a)nderings from a night person...)
Dawn sneaks up
on a person like me
who used to drink her way
through the night &
justify to an itinerant conscience
the lines she crossed in the name of surviving
I cut myself
loose & now I sail into golden dawn
on a sea of tranquility
caressed by flickers of early purple
awakening
helpless as water
to the pull of the moon

I appreciate a good aubade. "Helpless as water" is a great line.

I really like the atmosphere of anticipation and pronouncement.

Beautiful work. I also appreciate aubades. This one so graciously pulls us toward the light of the unknown.
